The Main Switch is a function in DMXControl 3 that allows you to centrally and quickly enable or disable various modules and program functions.
Overview
The Main Switch can currently enable or disable the following modules and program functions:
- DMX Interfaces
- Input Assignment
- Keyboard control
- Nanoleaf
All these modules share the characteristic that it can be useful to temporarily deactivate parts of them when preparing or running a show. Possible scenarios include:
- The Input Assignment is used to bind the keyboard for executing Cuelists. However, if you need to type something, this would inadvertently trigger the associated cuelist.
- The current show project is loaded on a backup laptop. If a problem occurs on the primary laptop, you can quickly switch to the backup.
Usage
When using the Main Switch, it is essential to understand that it represents an additional control layer. For instance, when you disable DMX output, the configuration of the DMX Interfaces itself remains unchanged. This applies not only to the general configuration but also to the current status—whether a DMX interface is enabled or not. The status checkboxes are not altered.
Enabling and Disabling via Quick Access Bar
All modules controlled by the Main Switch appear in the menu entries of the corresponding button in the quick access bar. If even one module is disabled, the button's icon changes to show a switch symbol in the off position. You can identify which module is disabled by opening the menu.
