The entire project in DMXControl 3 is centrally managed with the Project Explorer. In the Project Explorer, new Devices, Cuelists, Stage Views etc., can be created or existing ones modified.

Overview
The Project Explorer takes over the central management of the entire project in DMXControl 3. Here, all Devices, Cuelists, Stage Views etc., used in the project can be organized, new ones added, or unused ones deleted. For better clarity, similar to the Windows Explorer, folders can be created, and individual objects can be sorted into them. The menu bar of the Project Explorer provides easy access to various functions.
Key Features
Since the Project Explorer is exclusively for managing the project, no status information is displayed here, such as whether a Cuelist is active.
In the branch of Device Groups, sorting the entries by table headers is not possible. The order of the Devices in a Device Group determines how an Effect or a Fanning is played on that device group.
Controls
The Project Explorer features a menu bar that includes the most important commands for organizing and creating new elements such as cuelists, executors, etc.

Below is the split main window of the Project Explorer, which consists of the project tree on the left and the table with the respective content of the designated branches or the self-created subfolders within a branch on the right. Each branch has a context menu, which may differ slightly depending on the directory.

Usage
Project Tree
The structure of the project tree with its individual branches is fixed in DMXControl 3 and cannot be changed. Each branch is like a folder, and this structure organizes the project so that, for example, cuelists are always found in the Cuelist folder. However, there are shortcuts in some places. For example, by double-clicking within a cuelist group, you can directly open the selected cuelist for editing.
Adding and Changing Assignments
The most important function when using the Project Explorer is Drag & Drop (Drag and Drop). A large number of assignments can be made through this:
- Linking a cuelist with an executor
- Moving an executor to another executor page
- Adding a device to another device group
- Linking cuelists with a cuelist group
- Adding devices to an additional stage view
